Following the path of the roots’ pursuit
I found you were acquainted with the fruit
And stood as it’s proof
And so I silently yearned to know it’s truth, to breach it’s core.
Since you are the produce it bore and swore by,
I had to reach your core to know more…
Lacking the melanin they were beginning to travel
Not to marvel or convert, but to rape the earth
and unravel what ancient years had given birth to.
Their Bible was red with the fruit’s pain,
Their walking was strained from the golden grains’ weight
stashed in their lockets they pocketed the profits).
The ground gave heavily as your heart grew faint,
they stole your identity and Christened you a saint.
They came to colonize (and monopolize) a world savage
and unclean (though they brought disease and weakened immunities)
In the name of their saviour (and Queen).
To spread the faith.
Separated by the sea, yet suffering equally
On the Indigenous side of the tree they would eat those
considered the enemy (for their strength and good health)
never for wealth.
Though primal war did prevail (on the Lesser and Greater trail)
no-one was ever for sale,
Unlike the other half of the tree- which did so righteously
on a larger scale.
While one would eat the skin (for their soul to feed) as they saw it suit,
The other would sell his seed, and thus was acquainted with the fruit.
