Cardiac Arrest

Cardiac Arrest
By Khari D. Hawke

My heart stopped beating.
My breath became shallow.
My neck tensed, like I was carrying the weight of the world
On my shoulders.
My limbs grew numb.
Tears well up in my eyes.
Palms begin to moisten.
My voice trembles and shakes
Knees grow weary,
I can't seem to articulate
My mood dissipates...
I slowly drift to a place of nothing:
Nothing can harm nor help
Nothing can create nor destroy
Nothing can cut or bandage.
Nothing can replace this feeling.
I just shut down.
Like I'm some third world country kid,
Suffering from strife and famine
I feel just Sick.
Not knowing what to say or do.
Not knowing if I should move out the way, or say "hey" or "baby" or "wassam" or "hello"
Oblivious of the world around me, not knowing where to go
All this...
Just 'cause I saw you.
My heart stopped beating.
My breath became shallow.
My neck tensed, like I was carrying the weight of the world
On my shoulders.
What am I to do?
I can't help falling for you.
