The Begining by Khari D. Hawke
It’s only the beginning and my hopes and dreams have been aroused again Once again I am looking into the future and hoping for things that may possibly never be But in time I will only see; Now reflecting on my past hoping to change and grow in ways to make something special last, if and when it comes; Am I ready for what you can possibly bring? If you come to the table will I be ready to play the hand that I may be dealt, Or can I deny and hide any of the sparks that could show what is internally felt With diamonds, hearts, spades, and clubs in my hand can I understand why people diligently seek out and look foolishly for the sake of love; Our conversations are fulfilling and the interest is there, but will that extra element come to be present? Will we truly care? Can I care about the way you need to be seen, heard and sometimes protected or about how deeply you would be hurt if I were to truly be mean; Can we care about each other to the point where we will have a friendship that will never come to an end? Can we grow to the point where you could be considered my next of kin? Yeah it takes effort but truly I am willing to try for the one glance at happiness that I once spied with my widely opened eyes Yeah only days have past and hopefully many more may come But I am hoping for a day where two can come together to be one It may have to be a secret for a brief moment to the ones on the outside looking in But it can make it all better to know we may possibly have each other in the end. Growth is inescapable and truth never gets old But just like you I need someone to have and to hold Not by sheer weakness it is only by choice From the inside comes the connection that the mind, body, and mouth must maintain But to get the best understanding one can't complain It's never easy to go out on a new limb With that being said where are the best things that we seek? They are usually in sight, within the range of grasp but hard to actually reach It's only meant to be But if it's only the beginning and we can possibly have more than we both ever believed. |
