HOPE

HOPE
by Khari D. Hawke

In this fresh clear morning growing up
A whole nation has been holding back her breath back
As that was what they been waiting for like the final cup
The promise land of a new future with a leader named after Barack.

The whole world has eyes on them all
Never before such emotions have gathered people together
Since the march and the son’s pastor and his call
Now time was just suspended, as the air gets fresher.

Been a long time since such a favor run all over the country
State by state, words after words, speech after speech all matters
In the name of Lord, they ought to learn to fight with dignity
Love was about to blossom and get over haters.

The ones whom never thought they'd see that day
Now rising over the valleys it was getting louder
And such a strong rumor was taking place within hearts to say
Now the time has come for a change since Luther.

The old ones crying with many youngsters
Black, white and all shades eyes wide open sparkling with desire
Ancestors would put their head up upon their shoulders
And stare at the future as their suffering would not just burn in fire.

From that moment, people will always remember
Tomorrow’s sun will shine again to help them cope
As the struggle will not end; but a will for the better
Still growing inside, guess that’s what they call: HOPE.
